In a press conference yesterday, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, a Clark County Nevada Sheriff went on the air to announce, amongst other things, how we could help the shooting victims of the tragic event that unfolded in front of the Mandalay Hotel, where a country music concert was being held.

At the Law Offices of Matthew C. Hines, we have summarized his suggestions, as well as uncovered a few other ways of giving, hoping you’ll find one that’s convenient to you, should you decide to partake in helping out.

Fastest Way to Make an Impact

The Clark County Commissioner of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve Sisolak, has set up a verified GoFundMe Donation page, where he donated the first $10,000.  The donations have already surpassed over $8 million dollars in just a few days.

According to Sisolak, the verified fund will be used to “provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting,” according to the GoFundMe page.  The minimum donation is just $5

Be aware of fraudulent GoFundMe fundraisers claiming to do the same. Go with the verified listing by clicking the link above.

Other ways you can help Las Vegas shooting victims

Although other unconventional ways of helping exist, they are more geared to people who live closer to ground zero.  But perhaps you may know someone who lives in the area and could make them aware of these options.

People in the Las Vegas area can donate blood to participating hospitals and clinics. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Twitter account is continually updating its page with locations in the Las Vegas area that are accepting blood donations.

In yesterday’s press conference, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo had mentioned some local organizations taking on the load of accepting all sorts of donations.  We have done the research for you and have identified their websites and contact info:

  • Three Square is a local charity organization located in Las Vegas and they are accepting any form of donations that will go directly to cause. You can find their website and contact info here.
  • Catholic Charities is another non-profit organization who is currently taking in any donation or drop off in the Las Vegas area. You can find their website and contact info here.
